Privacy policy
Effective date: September 17, 2026
This privacy policy explains what information Kloven collects when you use our mobile app and website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. This is not legal advice. We use plain language so you can actually read it.
Data controller
Kloven is operated at kloven.app. For privacy-related questions and data-rights requests, contact us at support@kloven.app. If you need a postal address for a formal request, email us and we will provide it.
1. Information we collect
Account information
If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique user ID and, depending on what you chose to share, your email address and display name. We do not receive your password. If you sign in with Email, we store your email address and a credential managed by our authentication provider (Supabase); we never see your password in plain text.
User content
- Text you type or paste into the app to be processed into emails, replies, summaries, and action items.
- Voice recordings you make in the app and the resulting transcripts.
- Screenshots and images you upload, and the text extracted from them via optical character recognition (OCR).
- Content you share into Kloven from other apps via the iOS Share Extension (text, links, or screenshots).
- Text you act on in the Kloven Keyboard: the selection or the text near your cursor at the moment you tap a keyboard action (see “Kloven Keyboard and Full Access” below).
- Generated outputs produced by AI based on your inputs (email drafts, replies, chat-style messages, summaries, action items).
Content reaches Kloven only through these routes, and only when you choose to submit it: typing or pasting in the app, recording or uploading audio, capturing or uploading an image, sharing from another app, or tapping an action in the keyboard. Kloven does not read your inbox, message history, contacts, or other apps.
Share Extension
When you share text, a link, or a screenshot to Kloven from another app and pick a quick action, that content is sent to Kloven’s server and processed exactly as it would be inside the app: text is drafted by our AI providers, and screenshots are read with OCR first. Nothing is sent until you choose an action. The resulting draft is saved to your History under the same account, and counts toward the same free daily allowance and Pro entitlement as drafts created in the app.
Kloven Keyboard and Full Access
The Kloven Keyboard is an optional custom iOS keyboard. It is a full typing keyboard with an AI toolbar. iOS asks you to grant “Full Access” before any keyboard can use the network. Here is precisely what that means for Kloven:
- Without Full Access, the keyboard types normally and makes no network calls. AI actions are unavailable.
- With Full Access, the keyboard sends only the text you explicitly act on, your selection, or the text near the cursor, to Kloven’s API when you tap an action (Polish, Shorter, Tone, Reply, Fix grammar, or convert to Email, Teams, Slack, WhatsApp, or SMS). Nothing is sent until you tap.
- The keyboard never logs or stores your keystrokes, and does not send what you type while you are typing.
- Shared on-device settings: the keyboard reads your Kloven writing preferences and sign-in session from a shared App Group container and Keychain on your device, so it can act under the same account and style as the app. This data stays on the device.
- Voice on the keyboard hands off to the Kloven app. The keyboard itself never records audio. The result is returned to the keyboard via the device clipboard and the shared container.
Drafts created with the keyboard are processed by the same AI providers described in Section 3 and count toward the same free allowance and Pro entitlement as the app.
Clipboard
Kloven writes to your clipboard only when you tap Copy, or when the keyboard voice handoff returns text to the keyboard. Kloven never reads your clipboard automatically, only when you tap “Paste from clipboard”.
Recipient memory
When you name the person you are writing to (for example, “reply to Sarah, keep it short”), Kloven can remember the tone, length, and channel you tend to use with that name and apply them next time. This memory stores the names you mention together with those preferences on your device only; it is not synced to our servers or across devices in this version, and it never stores the text of your messages or drafts. You can review, edit, and delete entries individually or all at once under Settings › People Kloven remembers, and you can switch the feature off there.
Subscription and billing status
Whether you have an active Pro subscription, when it expires, and the platform that issued it (Apple App Store). Payments are processed by Apple. We do not see your payment card.
Usage data and analytics
Counters and timestamps used to enforce the daily free-tier limit, plus first-party product analytics that are metadata only: event names, counts, timings, and which surface an action came from (the app, the share sheet, or the keyboard), for example how many text vs. voice vs. screenshot generations you ran. Analytics never include the text of your inputs or drafts. We do not use third-party analytics SDKs and we do not build advertising profiles.
Device and app diagnostics
First-party error and usage logs tied to your account (for example, failed generations and sign-in events). We also use Sentry for crash and error diagnostics to help us find and fix bugs. Crash reports are not linked to your identity (we do not send personally identifying information to Sentry) and are used only to improve app stability. We do not use any advertising or ad-tracking SDKs.
2. How we use your information
- To generate emails, replies, summaries, and action items from your inputs.
- To transcribe voice recordings into text.
- To extract text from screenshots via OCR.
- To enforce free-tier limits and unlock Pro features.
- To provide subscription billing in cooperation with Apple.
- To sync your saved history across your signed-in devices.
- To respond to support requests and fix issues you report.
- To monitor and improve the reliability, safety, and quality of the service.
3. AI processing
Kloven is an AI-powered product. To generate outputs, your inputs (text, voice transcripts, and OCR text from screenshots, whether they come from the app, the Share Extension, or the keyboard) are sent to third-party AI providers for processing. We pass only the content needed to produce a response, and we do not authorise these providers to use your content to train their general-purpose models, where the provider supports that option in their API.
Kloven also uses the AI to interpret what you said, for example, to resolve a self-correction (“Salesforce, no, HubSpot”) or to detect the channel you intend (“text him” becomes an SMS; “post in Slack” becomes a Slack message) and format accordingly. This is done from the text you provide; it does not use any additional data about you or your contacts.
AI providers we use today:
- OpenAI: text generation (GPT models), voice transcription (Whisper), and image OCR. See OpenAI’s privacy policy. API inputs and outputs are not used to train OpenAI’s models under their API data-usage terms.
- Anthropic: optional fallback for text generation when configured. See Anthropic’s privacy policy.
In the app, we disclose before your content is processed that it will be sent to third-party AI providers. You can read more in Settings and on the processing screen before drafts are generated.
You should not submit highly sensitive information (for example, passwords, government identifiers, financial account numbers, or confidential medical records) unless you have specifically decided it is appropriate. AI-generated content can be inaccurate; always review outputs before sending them.
4. Data sharing
We share information with the following categories of service providers, only to the extent needed to operate Kloven:
- OpenAI and Anthropic: for text generation, voice transcription, and image OCR, as described in Section 3.
- Supabase: to manage your account and store your saved history.
- RevenueCat: to track entitlement status on iOS.
- Expo (EAS Hosting): hosts Kloven’s API server, through which your requests from the app, Share Extension, and keyboard are routed to the providers above.
- First-party operational logs: error and usage events stored on our servers to fix bugs and enforce limits.
- Sentry: crash and error diagnostics to improve app stability, not linked to your identity. We use no advertising or ad-tracking SDKs.
- Apple App Store: for billing, receipts, and subscription enforcement.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Kloven, our users, or others.
5. Data retention
- Saved generations and history are kept until you delete them or your account.
- Voice recordings and uploaded screenshots are processed to produce a transcript or extracted text and may be deleted from temporary storage after processing.
- Generated outputs you don’t save are kept only for the duration of your active session unless you choose to save them.
- Account, subscription, and billing records may be retained as required by law and Apple’s policies.
6. Your rights and choices
You can:
- Access and review your saved history inside the app.
- Delete individual saved generations from the History screen.
- Delete your entire account and saved data from Settings → Account → Delete account in the app, or via our delete-account page.
- Request correction of inaccurate account information by emailing support@kloven.app.
- Withdraw consent at any time by signing out and uninstalling the app, subject to records we’re required to retain.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights. See the region-specific sections below.

8. Children
Kloven is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and access controls on our infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Use a strong, unique account on Apple or Google (or a strong, unique password if you sign in with Email), and don’t share access to your device.
10. International transfers
Kloven operates online. Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and the European Union, depending on the location of our service providers. Where required, we rely on standard contractual mechanisms to protect your information during these transfers.
