Kloven vs Typeless: keep your words, or get the message drafted?

Two different jobs

Typeless’s promise is “messy thoughts, clear writing”: you talk, it removes filler, resolves “scratch that” corrections and formats the result in the field where your cursor is. It also translates and supports 100+ languages. On paid plans you get unlimited words, enhanced accuracy and cloud sync. Its App Store rating is 4.5 across about 700 ratings at the time of checking.

Kloven’s promise is closer to “say it once, send it polished”. The input can be voice, an uploaded recording, a screenshot, a PDF, pasted text, anything shared from another app, or text in the Kloven keyboard. The output is a message ready for a channel: email with subject line and signature, or a Teams, WhatsApp, SMS or Slack version of the same thought, plus summaries and action items from longer recordings. It is iPhone only.

The over-editing question

The most consistent criticism in Typeless’s lower-rated App Store reviews is that it changes more than the speaker wanted: a casual message comes back sounding corporate. That is a design choice, and many users like it. If you do not, Kloven’s answer is to make it a choice you take each time. After you speak you see the transcript. Polish as-is fixes grammar and fillers and keeps your wording, tone and length. Draft a message hands the transcript to the intent engine, which decides the format and writes the message. Turn on Keep my words and Polish as-is becomes the default everywhere, including the keyboard’s Fix grammar action.

Where Typeless is the better choice

• You dictate thousands of words a week and want most of it free. 8,000 words a week is the most generous free tier in the category.
• You work across Mac, Windows or Android. Kloven has no desktop app and is not available on Android.
• You need translation while dictating.
• You want cloud sync of your dictation settings across devices (Typeless paid plans).

Where Kloven is the better choice

• You reply to messages more than you compose from scratch. Share the thread or a screenshot to Kloven and the reply is drafted from that context; Typeless never sees the message.
• The channel matters: you need a subject line for the email version and a two-line version for Teams. Kloven converts with one tap.
• You want to decide, per note, how much the tool changes.
• You want an AI keyboard with a full QWERTY layout and a return key, that inserts results in place rather than sending you to another app.
• You want a per-person memory of tone, length and channel that lives on your device and holds names and preferences only, not message text.

Pricing, honestly

Typeless Pro on yearly billing is $12 a month, cheaper than Kloven Pro at $14.99. Typeless on monthly billing is $30, which is where Kloven’s $14.99 monthly and $4.99 weekly options look better. For someone who dictates a lot, Typeless’s free tier alone may cover them; Kloven’s three free drafts a day suit someone who sends a handful of careful messages. Reviews of Typeless mention frequent upgrade prompts on the free plan; Kloven’s free plan does not expire and the limit is the same across app, keyboard and share sheet.

Privacy

Both keyboards need iOS Full Access to reach the network, and both process speech in the cloud (Typeless reviews note the gap between on-device marketing and cloud processing; read its policy for specifics). Kloven states in its privacy policy that the keyboard sends only the text you act on, never logs keystrokes, never records audio itself, and that your content is not used to train models. Without Full Access the Kloven keyboard works as a plain keyboard with no network calls.
