Kloven vs Wispr Flow: dictation keyboard or message drafter?

5 min read · Updated Sep 20, 2026 · Facts checked Sep 20, 2026

Quick answer

Wispr Flow is a voice keyboard: you speak, and clean text appears in any app on Mac, Windows, iPhone or Android. Kloven is a message drafter for iPhone: you speak, share a message, or paste rough text, and you get a finished email, reply or Teams message in the right format. Pick Wispr Flow if you dictate a lot across devices and want a transcript with the filler removed. Pick Kloven if the messages you send need to be right for a specific person and channel, and you would rather say the rough version than type three drafts. Facts checked 20 September 2026.

What each product is

Wispr Flow replaces typing. It is installed as a keyboard (and as a desktop app) and turns speech into formatted text with fillers removed, in 100+ languages. It has a Notetaker for meetings on Mac and Windows. It is the most-rated app in its category on iOS: 4.8 across roughly 15,900 ratings when checked.

Kloven replaces the drafting. Its inputs are voice, uploaded audio, screenshots, PDFs, pasted text, anything shared from another app through the iOS share sheet, and text you are already typing in the Kloven keyboard. Its output is a send-ready message: email with a subject line, Teams or Slack update, WhatsApp or SMS reply, executive brief, meeting summary or action items, with one-tap conversion between formats. It is iPhone only.

Where Wispr Flow is the better choice

  • You dictate on a Mac or Windows machine as much as on your phone. Kloven has no desktop app.
  • You are on Android. Kloven is not available on Android yet.
  • You want a transcript of your own words with the filler removed, and you are happy to structure the message yourself.
  • You dictate long-form: documents, notes, journal entries. A word-based free tier suits that better than a per-draft one.
  • You want a meeting notetaker on the desktop in the same subscription.

Where Kloven is the better choice

  • The thing you are writing is a reply, and the message you are replying to is in a screenshot, a forwarded thread or another app. Share it to Kloven and the reply is drafted from that context.
  • You want the format handled: an email with a subject line, or the same update as a Teams message and a WhatsApp message, without rewriting.
  • You speak in half-sentences and corrections. Kloven’s intent engine resolves “Thursday, scratch that, Friday” and treats “keep it short” as an instruction, not content.
  • You want to choose per message between keeping your words (Polish as-is, Keep my words) and having the message drafted for you.
  • You want an on-device memory of how you write to each named person (tone, length, channel), never the message text.
One spoken update rendered as email, Teams and WhatsApp in Kloven. Wispr Flow gives you the text; the shaping stays with you.

Pricing, honestly

On monthly billing the two are within a dollar of each other: Wispr Flow Pro at $15 and Kloven Pro at $14.99. On annual billing Wispr Flow drops to $12 a month; Kloven does not offer an annual plan, but has a $4.99 weekly option for people who need it for a project rather than a year. The free tiers are not comparable: Wispr Flow meters words, Kloven meters drafts (three a day, and those include drafts made from the keyboard and share sheet). Heavy dictators get more free use from Wispr Flow; someone sending two careful messages a day may never pay for Kloven.

Privacy and the keyboard permission

Both keyboards need iOS Full Access to reach the network; that is an iOS rule, not a choice either vendor made. What differs is what each does with it, and you should read both privacy policies. Kloven’s commitments: the keyboard sends only the text you explicitly act on when you tap an action, never logs keystrokes, never records audio itself (voice hands off to the app), and your content is not used to train models. Recordings are temporary processing data. The details are in the Kloven privacy policy; Wispr Flow’s are on its site.

Frequently asked questions

Is Kloven a Wispr Flow replacement?
Only if your reason for using Wispr Flow is work messages on your iPhone. If you dictate on desktop or Android, Wispr Flow does things Kloven does not. The Wispr Flow alternatives page covers the wider field.
Does Kloven do live dictation like Wispr Flow?
Yes: your words appear on screen as you speak. The difference is what happens next: Kloven shows you the transcript and asks whether to polish it as-is or draft a message from it.
Which is more accurate?
Both use modern speech models and are accurate for clear English. Wispr Flow supports more languages for dictation. Kloven is reliable for English and Afrikaans, and for other languages shows the transcript to check before drafting rather than guessing.

Kloven is an iPhone app that drafts messages from voice, screenshots, and text. Drafts are generated by AI and can be wrong; you review everything before it is sent, and nothing is sent on your behalf. Your content is processed to create your draft and is not used to train AI models. Read the privacy policy and terms.
